Tuesday saw the 2nd race in the summer series of wildwater races and there was yet another fantastic turn out, 28 paddlers of all ages raced on the night, for 5 paddlers it was there first time on moving water. Because of the number of racers the paddlers had to be split into 2 groups and the first group races in sunny condition however the weather took a turn for the worst when the 2nd group came down. Water levels were low and you had to pick the route down the broken weir carefully so as not to get stuck, everyone managed it except one paddler, a good time was had by all and everyone is looking forward to the June race.
On the banks of the river Dee at Chester was where the next installment of the North West Hasler series took place. The weather was glorious which meant essentials for the day were sun cream and shades (it was so warm that 1 paddler even capsized on purpose to cool down) Duddon took 8 senior paddlers and 5 lightning paddlers to compete on the day. there were some good individual performances on the day with Brandon & Rhiann getting under 40 minutes for the first time and both finishing second in their respective divisions, Duddon also had two 3rd place finishers. There was some excellent racing in the lightning series, the first 3 paddlers across the line were from Duddon. Boys under 12 we had 1st and 3rd place Girls under 12 we had 1st and 2nd, we also had 3rd place in the boys under 10.
